Welcome to the Engineering the Future website.

STOP PRESS: Engineering an economy that works for all, the EtF and Royal Academy of Engineering response to the Industrial Strategy Green Paper has been published. (April 2017)

Engineering the Future (EtF) was created after the 2009 Commons Science and Technology Select Committee’s inquiry into the engineering profession. This inquiry found that “The engineering community’s approach to this inquiry has been coherent and co-ordinated, with the institutions working together to communicate a common message with and through the Royal Academy of Engineering. The Academy must take forward and formalise its leadership role, so that the engineering community can communicate—and co-ordinate—more effectively.”

A related programme, Education for Engineering (E4E) had been created some time earlier, with a similar structure, and focused on education policy. E4E was incorporated under the EtF programme.
